How much does a New York City Ballet dancer or American Ballet Theater dancer earn per year?

I was just wondering how much do they pay a dancer annually, like per show or something. I'm comparing the salaries or paychecks of ballet dancers from the US and dancers from outside the US (for example from my home here in Puerto Rico) thanks!

i think they get a salery and the better dancer they are the more money they get paid for year because they will be in more shows.
depends if your corps or principal, and a lot of companies pay by the show. some pay a stipend in addition to a really meager salary. the money isnt usually great, dancers are definate examples of people who chose their profession because of the passion they have for it.
I do not know about those who are a permanent member of the company, but if you are a student asked to be in one of their productions you recive 10 dollars per rehearsal and 20 per show.
There is no annual pay. Many a time, a dancer doesn't stay with a company a year. It's not a full-time job. It's not uncommon for dancers to have another way of getting money on the side, like a part-time job or from their family. Actually, it is vital you do so. Dance is not going to pay the bills.

Being a professional ballet dancer is for most people not about the money because there hardly is any money. After all the years of classes intensives and any ballet related costs, it's also not uncommon to never earn that much as a dancer.

Depending on the popularity and talent of the dancer, you can get between about $500 to $1000 a week (for the average professional dancer). A principal dancer might get around $2000 a week for however many weeks they stay with the company. That is a rough estimate.

Dancing does not have a permanent pay check. New dancers come in every day and take the job. That's the harsh reality dancers may not realize until it is thrown in their face.
